Experiences

Half-Day Taster Experience - 3 Hours (Up to 4 People) 9am-12pm: £126 each

Looking for a shorter but equally rewarding experience? Our Half Day Experience is designed for those who want to create smaller set pieces. Perfect for individuals, couples, or small groups; this experience offers an immersive taste of blacksmithing and a chance to take home a unique memento of your time with us.
  • Pieces include: bottle openers, key rings, fire pokers, door stops and letter openers.

Full Day Set Piece Experience (Up to 4 People): £216 each

If you are keen to fully immerse yourself in the craft, our Full Day Set Piece Experience  is perfect for you. Choose from a range of captivating set designs as a blacksmith teaches you the techniques needed to bring these stunning pieces to life. Enjoy the satisfaction of creating a functional yet captivating work of art.
  • Pieces include: fire sets, candle holders, hanging brackets and belt buckles (more options to come)

Custom Experience Day (1 or 2 People): £294 each

For those truly passionate and eager to experience the true process of a blacksmith from start to finish, our Custom Experience Day allows you the opportunity to work 1 on 1 with our skilled blacksmith to design and bring to life a bespoke piece of metalwork entirely of your own creation. 
With expert guidance, we will help you ensure that your design reflects your vision and is achievable within the skills you'll acquire during the day. Unleash your creativity and take home a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

If you have someone in your family or close friend who loves making things by hand and is interested in learning some blacksmithing techniques, I recommend a blacksmithing course with Orchard Blacksmiths. We went there recently and I would really recommend them. Mikey, our instructor, is very knowledgeable and told us a lot about the history of blacksmithing throughout the day. He started by showing my partner some basic techniques which we could then practice. He then helped him come up with a design for his piece to make and take away at the end of the day. They have suggestions of things you can make on the different courses they offer, and although our design wasn’t one of them, he helped us design something which my partner could make in the time we had. Mikey was patient and excellent at explaining and showing us skills to create our final piece which is beautiful and will be something that will last a long, long time and a lovely reminder of the fun we had.
